The Northeast was polluted with smoke and the sky turned hazy with colors of pink and orange on Tuesday. The wildfires in Canada blew the smoke to the South covering multiple states. PM2.5 is a dangerous pollutant found in wildfire smoke that has been connected to heart disease and asthma.

According to CNN, “On Tuesday, the concentration of PM2.5 in New York City’s air was more than 10 times the guideline set by the World Health Organization.”

PM2.5 is dangerous but children, elderly adults, people with respiratory illness and pregnant individuals should avoid exposure to the smoke.
